Responsibilities

A PCS2 contributes to AHF's mission by presenting a friendly, helpful face to patients, people seeking testing or pharmacy patrons. Within their duties of greeting patients in a courteous and sensitive manner, scheduling appointments and assisting with the needs of our clients, this position has the opportunity to give standout service that enhances the reputation of AHF, encourages clients to continue to seek medical treatment from an AHF Healthcare Center and recommend our services to others. The PCS role includes offering patient intake interviews, financial screenings and registering for Ryan White and AIDs Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) services. Ensuring that appropriate documentation for patient eligibility is filed and entered into our computer database. This position requires a Medical Assistant certification, national certification is preferred, but not required.


Within their duties of accurately collecting new patient medical history, determining what tests/screenings are due during medical visits, taking patient vitals and documenting all patient health-related complaints, this position has the opportunity to provide excellent patient centered care.


By communicating with patients between provider visits for condition updates, and follow through on test/procedures ordered by providers, the PCS2 can help ensure the patient is receiving the highest quality of care.


The PCS2 manages the referral process by processing specialty referrals in the most timely and accurate manner to optimize care and to address clinical needs; providing all pertinent information to patients for timely appointment scheduling; assisting with appointment scheduling as patients require; and obtaining specialist consults and scanning into the patent’s EMR to provide the most complete picture of a patient’s clinical condition. The PCS2 will track and monitor the status and progress of the referral being completed. They will notify a provider of a patient’s lapse in completing the referral and will remain in contact with the patient to improve adherence.


The PCS2 adds consistent value to the Healthcare Center Team especially in high-stress environments that demand immediate attention, by being flexible and professional at all times.
