Today, AID Atlanta offers a broad range of services and has grown to be the most comprehensive AIDS service organization in the Southeast.  AID Atlanta currently offers HIV/AIDS prevention and care services, including (but not limited to) Primary Care, HIV/STD Screening, PrEP, Community HIV Prevention Programs, Linkage Services, Case Management, and a state-wide Information Hotline.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing multi-faceted HIV/AIDS/STD awareness programming, prevention education, testing and counseling, and behavioral interventions/workshops
  • Identify target population and location to provide HIV testing and HIV prevention information
  • Conducting HIV testing and counseling on-site and at community events
  • Develop collaborative relationships with outside agencies to assist with establishing testing sites and venues
  • Ensure that all necessary reports and documentation are collected and submitted to the appropriate entities in a timely and efficient manner
  • Maintaining data regarding all program activity and complete all monthly and quarterly reports as required by both AID Atlanta and funders
  • Attend trainings, conference, meetings, as requested by Prevention Programs Manager

 QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related field
  • Certification in the Fundamentals of HIV Prevention Counseling
  • Knowledge of HIV/STD infection and AIDS
  • Knowledge of various Priority Populations and sensitivity to their norms, values, and cultural beliefs
  • Experience building and maintaining long-term, mutually beneficial community relationships

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: 

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or its equivalent
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience
  • Work experience in Prevention Presentation, Testing & Counseling; Certification in the Fundamentals of HIV Prevention Counseling
  • Knowledge of HIV/STD infection and AIDS
  • Knowledge of various Priority Populations and sensitivity to their norms, values, and cultural beliefs
  • Experience building and maintaining long-term, mutually beneficial community relationships
  • Must pass criminal background check

COMPETENCIES

  • Has a basic knowledge about HIV/AIDS
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Applications, including Excel and Word; Proficiency with Internet
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively educate and communicate with a variety of audiences
  • Experience with charting, documentation, utilization of client record databases
  • Ability to travel and work nights and weekends
  • Competence to work independently and within a team
  • Capacity to deliver programs in a variety of locations (i.e. faith-based facilities, community centers, clubs, bars, sex venues, prisons, parks, etc…)  and may have to transport, lift, and carry equipment and supplies
  • Have a positive attitude while working with challenging individuals, groups, and institutions
  • Previous experience with project and event coordination
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Able to pass criminal background review
  • Willing to improve on a continuous basis
  • Able to be flexible, dependable and resourceful
  • Able to effectively resolve conflict and cope with crisis situations
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of health and other information.
  • Able to multitask/manage/de-escalate multiple crises
  • Self-motivated, innovative, and creative
  • Possesses excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Basic knowledge of harm reduction principles and approach in providing services
  • Able to prioritize scheduled and unscheduled tasks
